Flir P Series Camera

Flir P Series
Models: P620, P640, P660
Retail Price: $27,500 – $37,500

The P series cameras are the top-level, professional grade portable infrared cameras in the Flir line. They are state of the art, and designed for infrared professionals, or those who use infrared as an integral part of their work, such as those who work in non-destructive testing, electrical utilities, and manufacturing plants.

The P series captures extremely high-quality infrared images at a 640X480 pixel resolution. This higher resolution allows for much more thermal detail in the IR images, which in term permits much better analysis of captured images. Additionally, both spot size resolution (the resolution within an individual spot), and temperature measurement are significantly better than lower-end cameras.

Larger Lens for Increased Image Quality
The larger lens of the P series cameras are responsible for the greatly improved infrared image quality. These cameras also come with a wider selection of lenses, with a standard 24° lens complemented by 7°, 12° and 45%deg; lenses for both wide-angle and telephoto work.

The thermal sensitivity of the P series cameras ranges from 40mK to less than 30mK, and the temperature range is -40°C to over 500°C. The P660, and upgraded versions of the P620 and P640, also include an integrated GPS, allowing the thermographer to geo-reference specific images. This data can them be imported into the Reporter software, or other software such as Google Earth.

Other Specifications
In addition to the 640X480 resolution infrared images, the P series captures 3.2 megapixel digital images, and supports both picture-in-picture and thermal fusion imaging. The P series also has an integrated eyepiece, which greatly improves viewing of the IR image when outside or in the presence of other ambient light. A laser pointer, video lamp, voice and text annotation, WLAN capability, and remote control round out the robust features of the P series cameras.

The P series cameras are some of the highest quality, professional level cameras currently manufactured. They are idea for professional thermographers and those who work in non-desctructive testing, electrical utilities, manufacturing or other fields where they require a high level of versatility, image quality, thermal sensitivity and functionality. Although they’re priced considerably higher than most of the other cameras in the Flir line, the price reflects the much greater quality and features.
