Flir T Series Cameras
Flir T Series
Retail Price: $8500 – $15000
The T series are the low end of Flir’s professional level infrared cameras. The T series consists of the T-200, T-300, T-360 and T-400. All four models have a large, 3.5″ LCD screen, which makes reading the infrared image in real time much easier. They also all have articulating lens housings, which can be rotated over 90°, which can be very handy when you need to hold the camera at an odd angle and still view the screen.
Higher Resolution
The T series cameras have much higher resolution than the i series, beginning at 200X150 for the T-200, and increasing to 320X240 for the T-400. Thermal sensitivity ranges from 100 mK down to 50 mK for the T-400. The lower the number, the higher the sensitivity. Higher sensitivity means greater contrast between temperatures in the infrared image, and allows distinguishing a lower temperature differential, or delta t.
Digital Camera for Picture in Picture
All of the T series cameras include a built in digital camera, allowing for simultaneous image capture (an infrared and digital image at the same time) and picture-in-picture (the infrared image is embedded in the digital picture). The T-360 and T-400 also have Thermal Fusion technology, which means the digital image can be displayed with the infrared image “bleeding through” depending on set parameters. For instance, the digital image could be displayed with the infrared image shown where temperatures exceeded 250°.
Multiple Lens Options
The T series cameras all feature a standard 25° lens, and 15° telephoto and 45° wide-angle lenses are also available, which allow for much more versatility, resolving at more distance, capturing more data from the same distance, etc.
Output Interfaces
All T series cameras have USB and video output standard, as well as a built in SD card to store infrared and digital images. The T-400 has video recording built in, and will store MPEG-4 video on the SD card. However, all the other cameras in the series have a standard video out, and video can be captured by a wide variety of DVRs and laptop computers.
The T series are remarkably versatile cameras, allowing for manual input of parameters such as emissivity, reflective apparent temperature, relative humidity, distance and ambient temperature. They also permit real-time infrared image analysis, such as multiple spot placement to measure the apparent temperature in several spots at once, isotherms, and auto temperature differential calculation.
The T series are widely used in large industrial facilities, for electrical sub-station inspections, commercial roof inspections, equine medicine, to name just a few. They are the most affordable of Flir’s professional grade IR cameras, and an excellent choice for those wishing to purchase a camera with the capabilities to allow them to explore more advanced infrared thermography applications.
